Subscription only now 😧

I was completely caught by surprise that after using Tinybeans for 8years!!! That I suddenly have to pay to use even the basic features. I was happy to deal with the massive ads, at times frustrating ux, limited social commentary and app slowness as I had committed to capturing my kids moments in one place & share with family members (even though can do via many other channels eg. iPhone memories, share, iCloud etc.)
I appreciate apps don’t run for free but to force everyone to pay, with no option for those long term users. I would be an apps dream customer for many other reasons.
the premium offer made much more sense. But to cut off free usage with not future option has really left me not wanting to proceed as I feel now trapped into your cycle of who knows what charges in future.
Very disappointed with approach guys.
Always recommended your app previously.

Not worth paying for

If you are a new user - I don’t believe the service is worth paying a subscription for. Hosting a shared album on iCloud or another online drive would be as easy (or easier). There is no comment threading to let you reply or have conversations, the UI can be very clunky, and scrolling through an album older than a few weeks takes a while to load up - so you might as well just create a shared album! Also now that they have removed the free option and everyone has to pay, be aware that if you commit to this service they can do it again later and jack the prices up, and you may feel like you’re stuck and continue to pay even more.

For older users - it feels a bit deceptive to suddenly have to pay for even the basic version of the app now. I understand if they want to change their business model, but for this type of product you would think they would allow legacy users to continue using the ad-filled free version, or offer a discounted one off payment or something similar - but of course they are relying on the fact that they have thousands of users who feel trapped and have sunk lots of time and energy into setting this up and uploading photos over the years, and older relatives have been taught how to use it, so they hope users will feel like it’s too difficult to switch their huge library to another service and they will cop the subscription fees.

Developer Response ,

We appreciate your candid feedback and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment or frustration.

At Tinybeans, we're moms and dads that are just like you, and care deeply about providing the private space to share memories and more. In order to do that, we needed to move to a paid-only model. It’s thanks to you, our valued customer, that we can grow and become even better.

Extremely overpriced and so disappointed

I started using this app for free 5 years ago when my son was born to share photos and videos with all of my family living overseas. Since then, I’ve had two more children and continue to upload photos nearly everyday. Last year, Tinybeans started charging for the app the same time it started having major glitches. While this was extremely frustrating, I paid the money and got over it. After all, every photo I’ve ever taken of my children is stored on this app, all those hours spent writing out stories/commentary so my family could keep up with what’s happening in our lives… it felt like too much to walk away from. Now, the latest price increase is… $179/year (Australian)!?!?! For a photo sharing app!? I’m actually in shock. I’d happily take the ads and whatever else for the free version but they’ve limited the free uploads to 20 a month…. I upload 20 photos a day sometimes😔 I’m so gutted at this increase. It’s so unaffordable and I feel trapped as I’ve spent the last 5 years on here and don’t want to start over. I understand things cannot remain free forever but $179 annually? Madness. $179 for a lifetime membership maybe. Not sure where I will go from here but will certainly spread the word not to use this app. Feeling so disappointed.
